First you can only define even and odd for integers, so it only applies to {... -5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...}
An integer is even if you divide it by 2 and have *no* remainder.
An integer is odd if you divide it by 2 and have a remainder.
The set of even numbers:
{... -6, -4, -2, 0, 2, 4, 6 ...}
The set of odd numbers:
{... -5, -3, -1, 1, 3, 5, 7 ...}
An alternate definition is if the last digit of a number is 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 the number is even.
If the last digit of a number is 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, the number is odd.
