Try to wear clothes similar to what they have in the store so they'll know you have some experience with what's in style now. It's like EBGames and Hot Topic. Both stores you have to have some kind of knowledge about video games and the other music (and preferrably some piercings too), so in a clothing store they'll want to see that you know what people your age will want to wear and how to wear it.

Look presentable -- dress casual yet somewhat nice -- i would not recomend a strapless belly shirt with shorts taht look like thy should really be ur underwear. But make sure you are yourself. Dont be to flashy and dont be to modest -- (I am in Resource Management -- a prep class for "the real world" and we have had a loong sectiona nd discussion on the interview process) hope this helps

only wear peircings of the ears(not alot either!!)
a shrunken blazer!!(if you dont have that than a demin jacket)
keep makeup simple.
a little lip gloss and masacra.
maybe blush or foundation.
and keep your hair classic.

Look ...businesslike....with a flair...but nothing too tight...and too revealing......sometimes they want to see how the public will see you.....
and have a great hairdo, nice nails, forget the running shoes...more attractive shoes.....
great cologne....and clean hygiene,
Most of all smile, and feel happy ...practice smiling every time you pass a mirror...to feel relaxed.
Now, practice why you would be a good employee...why you add to their organization, and be ready with their questions.....and try to smile with each answer....you really want the job because you love the clothing they sell, and you know you have a good work ethic....yeah!

You would probably be safe to dress like the majority of current employees of the store (unless, of course, the reason they're hiring is because those employees are being fired for violating the dress code). Sometimes, you just have to use your own best judgment.

Wear what the store manager wears. Better to dress up than dress down. Good luck!
