i have changed alot in the past 4 or 5 months. used to, i always looked down on druggies. i thought they were aweful and i swore i would never do drugs of any type. i never thought i would even smoke tobacco.

lately i have been smoking weed quite often and gumming coke every now and then. i idolize bands such as jefferson airplane, led zep, metallica, and many many more. i dont do it because i think it makes me look cool or hard but i like the feeling. and also i have become addicted to cigarettes. i know i shouldnt do it and it has all but RUINED my rep at my high school. i have lost friends over it, yet made new ones. probably the wrong ones. i am a christian yet i dont see anything unchristian about these drugs. i need some help. thanks.

You DO need some help. You admit that you've changed and that the friends you're making are the wrong ones. And as for being Christian or not...God wants you to take care of your body. Of course the drugs feel good. No one would start doing drugs if they felt bad, but please believe me. Down the line they stop feeling good, and you'll stop feeling good, and your entire life will be one of obsession about getting more drugs.

Please stop while you can. Call one of your old friends. Call Narcotics anonymous. They can help.

Maybe you have turned to these things for support in your life. It may well be that you have survived by doing this in the short term, but now you have further issues if you have become addicted. First you have to find out what it was you wanted to forget / cover up. Then you have to deal with the answer before you can deal with the addiction. Try rehab. / visit a Drug & Alcohol counsellor or find a support group in your area. These are all tried methods that work.
Remember: You alone can do it, but you cannot do it alone!

Maybe the unChristian part is the wasting of your God given potential?

Talk to someone now, not later. Hopefully you're not in this too deep. It's pretty normal to idolize bands and the like at your age....trust me I did too--The Grateful Dead in fact.

You'll grow out of it if you allow yourself to grow. Get some help and try to look at this as a bump in the road, not a major derailment.

Good luck sweetie!

My friend,

You need to be self determined to leave the drug world forever...Try filling your time with something more important, like be with your REAL friends, go out, date or look for Mrs. Right...You say you're in high school, then you must have enough awarness that drugs only give you a good feeling for a while, then they come back to hunt you; it's like a bank that gives you loans all the time, but suddenly asks for repayment with a big time interest...Would you want that to happen to you?

Also, one of the main ways to get rid of drugs, is getting rid of the people who offer them to you, or make it easier for you to obtain (i.e the wrong people you know)

Drugs (including alcohol) take away your life - figuratively and sometimes literally. Reach out for help. I had issues with AA-type programs because of the blatant christian format, but found that there are secular programs if that is an issue for you - like SOS, Save OurSelves.
