depends on the judge and your parents cuz your parents could file for sex with a minor and he could end up in jail and it doesn't matter if your having a baby or not he's the adult not you!

She didn't ask about statutory rape, she asked about moving in with her boyfriend. Jeez.

What you need to do is run a google search on teenage emancipation in whatever state it is you live in. Normally you'll have to show to the judge that you are going to have a stable place to live, and be able to maintain a job or stay in school. There are a few others, depending on state.

I'm not sure if being pregnant would make it easier for you to become emancipated or not. But if its something you're considering, start doing research now. The court system is slow!

Good luck!

if you brought it to court your boyfriend would get in trouble for statutory rape and he would be marked as a sex offender. If your parents will let you then do it without going to court, otherwise your just going to have to wait till your 18 if you dont want your man to get in trouble. I know its dumb because he didnt rape you, it was consentual but i guess the court dosent think that anyone under 18 can make the decision to have sex. Im 17 and my boyfriends 21 and I worry about something like that happening, but I only have about 5 months left to worry before im 18. Anyways, if at all possible, avoid the courts. And good luck with the baby! I hope all works out well!

also, what mister says below that in some states 16 is the legal age of consent... thats true only if the other person is no more than 2 years older than you. So under 16 cannot give consent to have sex. A 16 year old can have sex with an 18 year old, a 17 year old can have sex with a 19 year old and once you hit 18 you are no longer a minor and can have consentual sex with anyone (unless they are a minor)

I_am_a_mupet has a great idea! see if your parents will let your boyfriend move in with you

Sounds like you have quite the situation. I commend you for being adult about it and thinking about your child. My advice to you is to stay at home and continue your relationship with your BF. The first few months with a new baby will be TOUGH! Up at all hours, screaming baby... it can really put strains on your relationship. I am not so sure that you should be concerned how the courts will look at it, but as a mother, if your child will be better with him or your family. I am not saying that you cannot stay there on occation, but concider staying at home for a few months till school is out and you can focus on your future. Make sure to stay in school! School is the only way that you can give your child a future. Good Luck and congrats!!!!

Be really careful about what you do. If you upset your mother, she could press rape charges against your boyfriend. I hate to say it , but since you are not married the chances of him leaving you right after or before the baby is born is great. It would probably be better for you to stay with your mother and and see how your boyfriend acts around you and your baby. I hope everything works out for you and your baby.

Sweetie, your best bet is to stay at home with your parents. I'm in your situation(only a couple of years later). My son just turned four back in Sept. I still live with my parents because raising a child on your own(being so young) is the most difficult experience you will ever encounter. Your family is your best support system. I would wait until after the baby is born to make any decision about the bf. (young)Men change completly when children are involved. i can almost guarentee he will not be understanding to any situ. please stay with your parents.

It relies upon on the state. so some distance as i comprehend, 17 is seen the criminal 'of age' age for women folk. uncertain on adult males. As a woman, as quickly as you're 17 (that's by ability of the regulations the place I stay nevertheless) you are able to go away your mothers and dads homestead and that they can't stress you back bc you're technically seen an person. it could be problematic to locate a place that ya'll would desire to lease bc this is unlawful to pass into right into a criminal settlement w/ all people decrease than the age of 18. i grew to become into emancipated at sixteen or perhaps then issues have been tough to get a place to stay. I had to have a buddy who grew to become into over 18 do each and all of the place of work work to lease a place. perhaps inspect the interior reach and state regulations for shifting out on your guy or woman at sixteen. If all else fails, confer with the two certainly one of ya'll's mothers and dads. perhaps something would desire to be labored out to the place you 2 would desire to be mutually on your guy or woman place? I desire i'd desire to help greater hun! Congrats on your being pregnant and that i desire you each and all of the appropriate of success!

What are you doing getting pregnant at 16 and dating a 22 year old anyway?

He's way too old for you. That is so sketchy.
What on earth is a grad student doing getting 16 year old minors pregnant?!

Uh if you go through courts your boyfriend will be thrown in the clink for statutory rape! He is of age and you are a MINOR!!! You would have to get your mother's permission and see what your laws are in your state. But you are under 18. Whether is was concentual or not, he's going to get in trouble!

Its better to stay with your family until the baby is born, and then decide afterwards. Your mom has to be ok with it. But as long as they dont want to press charges on the guy, then it would be legal.

It is hard to say. Your boyfriend could go to jail for sex with a minor (you). In some areas 16 is the leagal consenting age. You are on a border line !!
