Whenever I attend annually church conventions, people like Donnie Mcklurkin (sp?), Bishop Rodgers, other well-known preachers show up. They always ask for large amounts of money at offering time. But they say it like this, "Lets start off with $500". No-one moves. Now when they say, "Cmon saints, God is giving you LIFE and this is the best you can do?". Then like, 200 people stand up, and put large amounts of money into the basket. Then the keep repeating, but the amounts of money they ask for decreases so everyone outs there share of money into the baskets. This is hard for me to explain, but anyone whos pennicostal will understand what I'm talking about. They say that the money is for God, but is this really true? I mean you go outside, and Bishop Rodgers hops into his $600,000 Rolls Royce, with his $4000 dollar suit on, and drives away like he's some kind of star. The same goes with Donnie McKlurkin. And the amount of money they make a night is BIG..What are your opinions on this?

I think its disgusting that people of the church can rob the poor people who believe. I think that if the money were truly for God then they would be driving a regular car like everyone else etc. The money needs to be spent on institutions like churches and the community not some preachers clothes. However if those gullible people are stupid enough to throw their money into a bottomless basket when they clearly need it more than the preacher, its their own fault.

I don't know these people or this kind of preaching, but I'll tell you this, people on here put down catholicism left and right. In comparison to what you just spoke of, out priests live under the poverty guidelines, humbly and have very little material things. So you tell me what is right or wrong. What and who is there for the religion end of it, I ask you. Our priests live alone, long lonely lives with GOD as their companion, no Rolls Royce, just a humble black suit, which is no where near the $4000. price you spoke of. So what's the deal? But yet we are criticized for our beliefs...........HUH.........

1st, sounds like you want to bash a belief here and you don't know what you are talking about. 2nd, do not give your money blindly, know where it is going. 3rd having a religion and going to church is not the same as being a christian.

There are a lot of people out there that are looking for someone to follow and a lot of folks that are ready to lead them down the wrong path, this is a sad truth and a lot of folks get taken advantage of.

If I want to give to God I do not give it to them, my giving is to the needy, and the ones that give to the expensive "minister" are doing it for show.
I do believe in supporting my local minister, but he is the one I trust.
