You need to discuss the issue that police forces seem to be trying to improve their public image - what people think of them, that they are trying to improve how they interact and get along with the public, and that some people or factors may be making this difficult. There is an effort to make police forces more "people friendly".

I hope this helps a little.

1. There is an effort to improve the public image of police
2. This effort focuses on interaction between police and citizens
as necessary to create a better image of police
3. But there may be other negative influences that threaten the success of this effort. In other words, either the efforts being made to interact positively are not enough to overcome other reasons for the bad image of police; or there may be deliberate attempts to undermine these efforts, such as distrust of the police, that would make someone badmouth or discredit these efforts as a dishonest ploy by police to cover up the problems.

Example in Houston: The Community Outreach Division sponsors activities and monthly meetings to encourage citizens to interact with their local police. But some activists who don't trust the police, believe community policing is not done to increase security but is just setting people up to snitch on each other. So if those activists badmouth the efforts of police to involve citizens in policing their communities, this negative publicity could damage the efforts to improve police relations.
That negative influence, if greater than the positive results gained, could then overshadow the progress being made.

Is this specific to your city? If so, look online to see if your local police dept. has posted their mission statement, or what their policies state about involving citizens in community outreach.

For an example of a police mission statement that calls for police to "involve citizens in all aspects of policing", and to "work cooperatively with the public" look up on Houston Police Dept website or for a scanned copy go to:

the police want the people to like them so that they will help in solving crimes

The media shows police in a negative light a lot of times.

Videos of police doing bad things are seen often

How can the police overcome these influences to get the public to work with them to make everybody safer.

This subject matter question opens the door that you'll answer in any variety of techniques. you should ask your self: could we honor defense force heroes really on particular vacation trips alongside with Veterans Day or Memorial Day? Or could we honor them on a daily basis? when you answer that question, imagine about why you experience that way. only write down the way you experience.
