I wouldn't go as far as checking into a rehab center just yet. Yes weed is addictive. I don't smoke weed because even the smell of a lite joint makes me sick. Your parents are worried about you & if they didn't love you they wouldn't make such a fuss. If you a minor give it up until you reach 21 & have a place of your own. If your over 21 & still living at home, respect their wishes at least in their house.

Well to start with, how old are you? Are you still living with your parents? That is inportant info. towards an answer. If you are on your own, you can do what you want. Another question for ya.. Do you want to stop smoking? If you do want to stop and yet you havent then some say thats addiction. However going on your parents theory, par-say, any one who has a drink of alcohol, should be considered an alcoholic. Even if you were to smoke it everyday, all the time, its your life and your body. To appease mom and dad, give them peace of mind, and tell them you dont do it anymore. You should also mention to your parents that this "WEED" stuff is also perscribed by doctors to people with cancer. They should do there homework before being so judgemental. Good Luck and Happy Smoking.

If you are over 18 the they need to respect your choices as an adult. I think it is ok to smoke as long as you keep your priorities in check and in balance. If you have never given them alot of reasons to not trust you then maybe you can point out that you are trustworthy and that you have your sh*t together. If you are still living under their roof, well, you need to not bring it in the house and disrespect them and their wishes. I've never heard of anyone dying or overdosing from weed much less checking themselves into rehab because they are a stoner. Its just not gonna happen.

But you said that your parents know you do it, now they complain? I wish that you wouldn't do it at all because the effects are so bad. The ones you don't think are there, all to creep up on you later. Save your brain cells. Ask yourself, can I stop this? Is this something I can go without? If not you are addicted. Many men become like lazy sloblike non working veggies when they have used pot. I hope that you don't become that way.

no it doesn't make you an addict.
you have to remember as your parents don't smoke, when they think of weed, they think "drug" becasue that is what they are told to believe.
it wouldn't be the same if you were smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol, but these are drugs too.
basically, there comes a point where you have to trust yourself and realise that parents are not always right.
i don't know how old you are, so i don't know if your parents will take you seriously, but be honest, and explain to them how it makes you feel perhaps. compare it to what happens when people get drunk.
such differences!

i would say yes you are .smoking weed doesn't make you cool and its not good for you . i would get some counseling and find out why you think its cool ,and i wouldn't let my friends pressure me into something i know wasn't right to do in the first place.

An addict will always say they are not an addict they are in denial, weed is addictive and you don,t see yourself when you are high, so listen to your parents they love you and are trying to help you.

considering two professors in Canada were just awarded the right to light up on campus (due to medical marijuana laws), I don't think mary jane can be put in the same category with other addictive drugs (i.e., alcohol, heroine, etc)
ask them how much coffee they drink next time they question u.
but just keep ur focus and priorities in line regarless...

if your not addicted you should be able to quit that would ease things at home if the dope is more important than your parents feelings you probably are addicted or just really selfish.
