I have a friend, whose mom also happens to be one of my teachers, and they own several animals.. which are all very poorly cared for. Most notably (and it bothers me a great deal), they have two male Golden Retrievers... about 8 months old... who are literally kept locked up in their crates 95% of the day and night... usually having to sit in their own feces for hours. Both friend and teacher are oblivious to the fact that their house stinks horribly, and they both think that there's nothing wrong with how they treat those dogs. They also have two cats, who are usually ignored and use the house as their "litterbox", and two rabbits that live in filthy cages that are cleaned maybe once a month at the most. At total risk of ruining a friendship, and having a grade mysteriously drop itself... is this situation something I should report to my local ASPCA?

you probably know the answer to that.

you can call, and it's best that you do. The animals don't need to live like that, neither your friend or teacher will know it's you, talk to your parents let them know what you want to do and are prepared to do, i'm sure it can be done anonymously. Some people really don't know how to take care of animals, and treat them like living breathing creatures, you are in the right for wanting to call and fix what's wrong. Just keep it to yourself, your parents and the local aspca and you'll have done the right thing. Just be there for your friend and realize she was brought up that way and doesn't see it as an issue. Good Luck!!!!

Yes they should be reported. At lest then the ASPCA will issue a "compliance order" they give the family a couple weeks to make the living conditions better for the animals if they fail to do that the pets can be taken from them and a criminal case may be pursued if not a fine.

Yes, I believe so. Call your local ASPCA and make an anonymous report. Those animals deserve to be treated better. Maybe the next time you are at their house offer to play with the dogs or take them for a walk.

YES! I'm kinda in the same thing. My aunt and uncle, or really my uncle owns to dogs. Sunny is a Dalmation. And he is locked up in his dog lot ALL DAY. But if you think thats bad, he's other dog who is a Goldon Retriever mix named Ducken has been on a heavy metel chain for four years STRIGHT! never been off. You should forget about your grade for now and think of those poor animals.
You can report it without beeing identified. Ask to remain unamed and they'll never know it was you. SAVE THOSE ANIMALS!
Good luck, and hoped I helped

usually i am against hyper animal rights activists, but there is nothing wrong with getting some animals out of an obviously horrible situation.
contact the local ASPCA and get them there quickly. also, request that your name is not given and that you don't want any association in any way whatsoever to the investigation against your friend.
really, it's your responsability to get those animals out of that situation. they deserve a better life.
good luck!

I would definitely report it. You can probably remain anonymous too... or at least ASK them to not say who reported. ASPCA will still know who you are, in case they need you to testify later (if it gets that far, you'll know they deserve it anyway!!), but the people don't have to know at this point. Good luck.

Yes it should be reported, if you don't want get a bad grade because of this you can go to pets mart and talk to some one there, and they will send some one to check it out, that way you don't have to give your name, and they do take this very seriously.

A simple answer is YES!!!!!!!!
If you have ever seen Animal Cops on Animal Planet, you would see that people get arrested for that kind of cruelty all the time.
Is your friendship worth those animals suffering? I don't think anything is worth that!

No question about it that is really cruel and they can get arrested for that kind of behavior you should report them because an animal can't survive in those kind of conditions.

You are a very good person. Most people wouldn't give that a second thought......but you did. YES, you should report them and ask to remain anonymous....because you know these people. Please report them for the animals sake. Please, they can't talk for themselves. Let me know what happened.
