My bestfriend is getting a divorce from her husband but only because they fight with each other about her step son. She heard that when you are in the process of the divorce that they cant have sex or it will prolong the divorce if the court finds out. Is that true?

Your best friend needs to decide if she wants to move on, or not move on. If she's made the decision to get divorced & plans to stick to her guns on that, then sex is a bad idea (with him). If she's going to move on, Move on !

I have to agree with the first person to answer this question. If you are divorcing why would you want to have sex with them? It may vary state to state but I do know most of them will only postpone a divorce if the woman is pregnant. That would be the one reason why you shouldn't be having sex if are trying to get divorced.

In my country yes if you have sex and one person said but we had sex and I thought we were getting back together than yes the 1year 1month and 1day thing would come back into play. Mostly I wouldn't want to have sex with somebody I couldn't work things out with but that is me. I guess maybe they are divorcing for all the wrong reasons. Oh and if they do have sex who will know?

Yes, having sex with him will make the divorce process longer. You have to be seperated for one year with no intimate contact and living in different homes.

I have never heard of that rule. I know a couple that had s_x together the night prior to their divorce. That was in 1991.
Different strokes for different folks.

only if the other person contests the divorce and uses that as an excuse...other than that it sounds like soon to be ex sex to me and would not be a good idea.

OMG. Buy a clue or better yet steal one. Why on earth would you want to have sex with the soon to be ex? They are called ex's for a reason.
