sure you can hamsters LOVE sunflowers seeds you just give it to them and they will take the shell off

DON'T feed them the salted ones they can make your hamster sick(trust me i tried it once)

you can buy non-salted ones for them at the petstore
i get mines a bag full of them for $2 at this swapmeet(they have a pet shop in there) plus those are especially made for hamsters
(birds, rabbits, mice, an dothers can eat them too)=)

Yes, you can feed your hamster sunflower seeds (either with or without the shell), but make sure the sunflower seeds are the unsalted kind. Too much salt could kill your hamster.

Yes. Almost all hamster food I've ever seen has sunflower seeds (with shell) in it. Just make sure they aren't the salted ones, or some spicy type, etc. (aka human food). In fact, I grow sunflowers in the summer, then just stick the whole (small) dried out flower in there for him. He loves it!

You can also feed SMALL bits of veggies. Baby carrots and lettuce (no iceberg, just the "leaf" types) are favorites of my little guy. But just remember... his tummy is about the size of your fingertip, so don't overdo it!

yes of course, Hamsters have the right sort of teeth to chew through the shell. Try giving your hamster a hamster food mix that contains corn kernels, sunflower seeds, pellets, and all the right stuff for a healthy hamster.

Use caution. Small animals have been known to choke on the sunflower seed shells. Just because they come in mixes at the petstore DOES NOT mean they are an appropriate food for small animals. In fact, they are not recommended for rats or guinea pigs, because they can cause obesity and because of the choking factor.

Yes. Have you ever seen those little blocks with grain and corn kernels? They have the shells on the sunflower seeds, so don't worry. My sister had a hamster for 2 weeks once. I know. ( It was given to her. Then it died because we were away and it was lonely. )
