Very simple...... I did the same in grammar school......used modeling clay to form your volcano. Make sure the walls are solid, as you will be pouring liquid into it. Pour white vinegar in the volcano, (red food dye makes it looks pretty cool), when you are ready to make your volcano "erupt", add some baking soda, and watch it bubble and overflow! Have fun!

The following should be done under adult supervision. Wear eye protection near the model

Make a model of a volcano with clay or something else that doesn't burn. The crater should be about an inch in diameter

Place a small amount of ammonium dichromate in the crater. Light the chemical with a match. It will burn and send up sprays of sparks.

If you don't want to deal with fire you could build a model out of clay or playdoh and pump some sort of liquid from underneath using a rubber bulb and tube.

The first three links describe the ammonium dichromate volcano. Some have videos. The last one shows some other ideas.

Plain white vinegar and baking soda make a great "explosion" for your volcano.'
