If your baby can sit with support and an hold his/her head up and can turn it then you theoretically could start on rice cereal stage 1. This is the first "solid" food that you should introduce to your baby. You can start them on rice cereal any time between 4 and 6 months, but if you feel that breast milk/formula is not enough for your baby then go ahead and start the cereal. I started my daughter on the rice cereal at 4 months because she wouldn't take more formula but she was hungry and very active. I would double check with your doctor. If your baby is aready able to hold their head while sitting in feeding chair and has good strong neck muscles then you should be fine just step 1 though. add cereal into it just to help in the consistency and help baby keep in mouth my baby was eating tht stuff by 3-4 months old he started juice as well at the same time. he was on table food as soon as he started mouthing for my food at about 9 months long story short hes a very healthy 4 yr old now. No food allergies nuthin but still watch baby for food allergies just to be on safe side for reactions. your baby will let you know when he/shes ready

My pediatrician does not recommend any type of solid food until 6 months of age, mainly because all the nutrition a baby needs comes from formula/breat milk--cereal or jarred baby foods do not provide hardly any nutrition. Another reason for waiting is the development of food allergies if a variety of foods are introduced too early. The reason for introducing them to solid foods is to get them use to eating and in my pediatrician's opinion, that can wait as long as 10 1/2 months, as he did with his children, but it is okay to start at 6 months if one feels the need to feed their child solid foods. As he put it, "If you enjoy taking an extra 3 hours out of your day to feed them solid food, you can, but it is best to wait until they are at least6 months old and you won't be hurting them if it is delayed." I'm one that follows doctor's orders.

NO! if the baby acts hungry still after a bottle, try putting some gerber rice ceareal in the bottle. my dr. suggests 1 table spoon.. My son used to get that way... by about 4-5 months start just on baby rice ceareal with some formula once or twice a day... theres also the baby oatmeal...... but stick to bottles for now...

I started my son on stage 1 baby food at 3 months but my dr. said that my son was doing good with sitting up and holding his head good. And he did real good with and loved it and now my son turns 5 months on Thanksgiving and now sitting up and my dr. wants me to try stage 2. So it all depends on the dr.

NO!
They can't even digest it properly at this age.
A 3 and a half month old baby should ONLY be eating breastmilk and/or formula!
The AAP suggests waiting until closer to 6 mos to introduce solids.
Starting earlier puts the child at increased risk of allergies, diabetes and obesity.

I know some people who would say yes. My pediatrician said to start feeding cereal after month 4, i started about 4 1/2 months. other people say nothing until after 6 months old.
so it's up to you and your dr.!

Yes they can. Both of my boys were given baby food at that age. I know doctors don't like it, but they didn't have everything now back then. And the babies ate "regular food" then and are fine. Besides they don't even eat half of the jar they eat like 4 or 5 spoons, so yes do it.
