Has anyone been able to get invitational upgrades or complimentary upgrades for rooms at Disney 'World?

I have made reservations for March 07 and nobody at disney seems to have any info on these upgrades. Do these exist?

Sure they exist! This past August my boyfriend and I stayed at Disney's Polynesian Resort. We booked the Platinum Plan and requested the room we'd stayed in the summer before. The day before we left I emailed our Disney Itinerary Specialist to ask if we'd be getting the room we'd requested. He told us he could probably arrange that, but he already had us booked in room 1516 of the Hawaii Concierge Longhouse. He said that most of the Deluxe Resorts do their best to upgrade any Platinum Plan Guests. Obviously, I decided to go with the room he assigned us. It had the best view on property, literally. A view of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort, the Magic Kingdom Park, Cinderella Castle, Space Mountain, and Disney's Contemporary Resort, all across the Seven Seas Lagoon. Every night we had an incredible view rihgt from out patio of the Magic Kingdom fireworks and the Electrical Water Pageant on the lagoon. It was awesome. When we arrived at Guest Services to check in the woman went to the back office to get the manager. He came out and told us we were V.I.P. during our entire stay and if we needed anything at all, we could ask for him personally. It was so amazing that we booked the Platinum Plan again for this July. The Platinum Plan is perfect if you're staying for a week or longer, and you're pretty much guaranteed an upgrade. (Another great thing about the Platinum Plan - people complain that when employees at the restaurants find out you're on the Disney Dining Plan they aren't as friendly because the tip is set - but we noticed that since we were Platinum Plan, the most expensive, all the employees anywhere treated us like royalty.)

Anyway, since you've already made reservations, and you may not have purchased the Platinum Plan, if it's a special occasion, there's a decent chance you may recieve an upgrade. Let Guest Services when you arrive, and if possible, call the WDW reservation number and have them put a note in the computer.

i've stayed at almost every resort at disney. We've been given a complimentary upgrade twice. Once at Port Orleans, and the other at the Contemperary Resort. It all depends on the situation, both times for my family it was because we were Florida Res. My friends did get one because they over booked, and they already had a confrimation number, they moved them into a tower room. You just have to see when you get to the resort, they'll tell you if they have any upgrades available then at the front desk.

I'm not an expert but the people at www.allearsnet.com will know. I thought it was just luck of the draw to get an upgrade. You are going at a slow time, so you might get lucky with an upgrade. Have fun~~~~

I stay at the best hotels and resorts at 50-80% off and receive upgrades most of the time when available.
