The altimate question of Life and Death, which is better? I am going to buy the Zune tomorrow, after being sick of my first gen iPod Nano. I want some videos on the go, and with a bigger screen, the Zune's doing it for me. It comes out tomorrow, so I'm wondering: Am I making the right choice by spending $250 on a Zune? I already spent about $40 on music in the iTunes music store, so I'll have to find a cheap or free converter. This question has two parts:
1: Zune or iPod?
2: Is there a converter to convert songs bought off of iTunes into a format that can be read by the Zune?

1. iPod
2. you can’t use Windows Media Player to load the Zune with music; you have to install a similar but less powerful Windows program just for the Zune. It’s a ridiculous duplication of effort by Microsoft, and a double learning curve for you.
To read about everything about Zune vs. iPod, go to http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/09/technology/09pogue.html?ref=technology it's 2 pages..OR read this [from the website]:
I learned that "The Zune 1.0 player is pretty barren, too. It doesn’t have a single standard iPod amenity: no games, alarm clock, stopwatch, world clock, password-protected volume limiter, equalizer, calendar, address book or notes module".
ALSO:
"Naturally, you also miss out on the 3,000 iPod accessories: speaker systems, microphones, cases, home and auto adapters, remote controls and so on. Over 80 percent of 2007 cars will have an iPod connector option — zero for Zune. And there’s only one Zune model; there’s no equivalent of the iPod Nano or Shuffle".
AND:
"The bigger problem, [...] You can play a transmitted song only three times, all within three days. After that, it expires. You’re left with only a text tag that shows up on your PC so that — how convenient! — you can buy the song from Microsoft’s store".
so I would say stick to iPod for now...or wait till iPod comes with their new style

People need to get in there heads Apple's Sales arent on iPod videos . The iPod nano is the #1 MP3 player the updated video ipod was just to hold people off untill Next year.
anyway i love the ipod the zune has useless (cool still) but useless features the ipod has every major network on tv,going worldwide on movies next year. getting more movies and networks weekly and have ipod games one thing zune doesn't. and wifi isn't everything. If you dont mind a thick *** player. get a psp games internet psp to psp sharing music movies photos ps3 remote conectivity works as a portable tv with location free.
Botom Line If you like style and games lots of video movies tv shows 80gb storage games-pacman ,tetris ,ect. MUSIC thin player get ipod
Every feature that a portabe device can have get a psp.
Zune's screen is olny 1.5 inch diffrence with alot worse quality iPod has double video Quality trust me.
Zune will sell some but iPod has been working 5yrs. to be on top and gets better every year!
Don't make the same mistake i did Get iPod. You'll go buy the zune. then get doubty and come across itunes look at all the videos and wish you could play them on zune you can't itunes videos are olny played on ipods.
Zune quality is worse than the ipods. get an ipod 30gb OR 80gb.
Also Checkout the new nanos!!!

Hey, I am also deciding wether to get a Zune or an iPod. I had an iPod shuffle, the stick kind, the square looks so AWESOME!, but anyway, it broke after a few months. I wanted to run with it but only got one chance.
Off the point but that has changed my view on how good the normal iPods are going to be. I hear a lot of complaints about the iPod batteries going bad after a year and starts to loose a lot of "juice" fast. To replace them too, you have to pay to have Mac replace the battery (since it's inside your iPod). I love the idea of the battery inside but I don't want to have to pay for them to replace it (unless the battery is free) I don't know how much it costs to replace it anymore (haven't checked). But will the Zune have the same problem?
I know for sure that the Zune player allows you to take music from iTunes and Windows Media Player to put on your Zune player and your Zune.
Tell me what you think of your Zune. Maybe it'll help me decide. I do like the idea about WiFi sharing. That would be awesome if many people had Zunes to share music (only for 3 plays) but also pictures.
Keep me posted on how "awesome" or "crappy" your Zune turns out to be.

I heard a reviewer on the radio say the words, "piece of crap" when describing the Zune. It's not very often that you hear a serious commentator use those words. He said that it is ugly, big, clunky, poorly designed. It's a Toshiba product, that Microsoft calls Zune. Listen to a song 3 times, and it's removed? No thanks. This product is going to be a colossal failure. Mark my words. Come to think of it, I can't think of anything that Microsoft has ever invented on their own.
