Then correlation would be receiving our perceptions from the surrounding world and stringing them together in such a way that relationships are formed and ideas and concepts are then derived from. Cognition would then be the overall process of processing these ideas and concepts in such a way as to interact with the surrounding world. This cognition would be based on the sum perceptions, concepts, ideas and results that one has drawn over the course of ones life. A feedback loop in the nervous system would be similar, but would be lacking in the ability to adapt based on previous stimuli, which is what cognition essentially is, reacting to the world based on our physical senses and our past experiences.

Well wouldn't correlation be the act of the brain processing the two variables and then putting them together creating a perception?

Sorry Hebb's law was way too mathematical for me wish I had more insight for you.

That is a very deep subject...perception is even a feeling you get in the innermost part of you belly...haven't you ever felt it? What you see with your eyes makes you feel things inside..what you feel inside designates how you react to things you experience/see/taste/smell/feel/hear. The reason we do...the things we do.Perception is more than you can just see....
