You can probably called yourself "Hispanic" or "Mixed". Sometimes they tell you to specify.

If you were legally born in the United States then you are an American. If you are talking about the race/ethnicity question then you have some options. Being of Mexican descent you can claim to be Hispanic. Even if you don't speak Spanish and know nothing of Mexican culture. If you are mixed European descent and Native Mexican Indian (as most Mexicans are) then you can claim to be multiracial and Hispanic. Double the affirmative action points.

If you are obviously white then they will probably argue with you about the validity of the claim. I know of a red-haired woman who married a Native American. They had two boys, one looked like Mom and the other looked like Dad. The one that looked like his Mom was constantly having to prove that he was half Native American.

Really do you need the extra points or are you qualified on your own?

You can technically list whatever you want but the general rule is to list whichever nationality is predominate in your genetic make up. If everything is mixed equally (which yours seems to be) then you list the nationality you most identify with or the predominate nationality of your region.

You should be able to list Mexican/American on your college applications. (If you are living in the U.S.A.) You can also contact any guidance councellor at the colleges you are applying at and they can also give you a correct answer.

Good Luck :-)

u can list whatever you choose to put. I always abstain from listing a nationality, just because I am a mutt. Basically it comes down to what you can prove.

If you want to be accepted put black or african-american. After your in, they can't kick you out because of race. But they will probably never check anyway.

You're an American.

I still don't get why it's such a big deal on stupid forms.
