subduction plate boundries, otherwise known as convergent or desructive plate boundries. These occur when a ocieanic and continatal plates collide (sea and land). THe sea plate will be pushed down creating a trench, the crust will be pushed down and melted into the mantle, while the land plate will compress slightly to form large volcanoe moutain formations such as the himilayers.

There are allways earthquake zones and large moutain formations. There are also some volcanoes.

hope this helps...

Subduction is when one of the Earth surface plates slides beneath another Earth plate causing frequent earthquakes, often the formation of volcanoes, and always the formation of mountains.

it's a subduction zone, so ocean trenches and mountain ranges (ie. the Himalayas) are possible, as well as volcanoes and back arc basins. However, not all of these occur all the time. Do you know specifically if they are continental plates or oceanic plates?

I think mountains are a common result of subduction. I beliebe thats how the Sierra Nevada range was formed in California.
