8(k+3)=12k-4

First distribute the 8!

8k+24=12k-4

Then get each like terms on either side!

So subtract 8k from both sides and add four to both sides.

This will equal: 28=4k

Now divide both sides by four.

28/4=4k/4

So 7=k

The next problem do the same thing!

Distribute the -3

So...
-15+27v=25+7v

Again, get both like terms on same side!

20v=40

divide by 20

v=2

NOW go back and check your answers!

put in 7 for k for the first problem and 20 for the second problem.

8(k+3)=12k-4
8(7+3)=12*7-4
8(10)=84-4
80=80
CHECK!
That is correct.

Now do the same to the second problem.

8(k+3)=12k-4
8k + 24 = 12k -4
28 = 4k
7 = k

-3(5-9v)=25+7v
-15 + 27v = 25 + 7v
20v = 10
v = 1/2
