Maybe, but it's taken them eight years, while the Beatles earned their 17 in just six years. The Beatles have had 20 No. 1s in the US, while Weslife have had precisely zero. They will need decades to catch up the Beatles in America, if it's even possible.

And the success of acts like Mr Blobby proves singles sales aren't as important now as they were 40 years ago. Singles sales today reflect the taste of a few kiddies, not the whole music-buying market.

Everyones a sucker at some time for a real weepy song and with their fan base behind them they have every chance. Although i would not class them in the same league as the beatles being a liverpool lad myself.

Westlife should've waited til Christmas with this one. We're probably gonna be stuck with some loud, unbearable rock anthem now.

I really doubt it, but then again it is easier to have a number 1 single these days.

there were some other bands who entered the single charts higher than the beatles.

deep purple - black night - strange kind of woman 1970 number 1 at the british single chart
black sabbath - paranoid - iron man1971 number 1 at the british single chart
procol harum - a whiter shades of pale 1967 number 1 at the british single chart

there were more and more !! the Beatles is not alone in this world mate!

dunno, but they wll never be better than the beatles, because westlife are manufactured b+llox and the beatles are natural tallents,
isn't it a bit offensive to compare the two?
westlife should be compared to something a lot less out of their league.

hopefully not, the westlife surely dont write their own material or play their own instruments and theres none to compare to the great lennon.
