I had my phone stolen the other week so I phoned my network provider and gave them the IMEI Number so they could block it but is it still possible for someone other than me to have the phone unblocked?? I know that you there are places to have your phone unblocked so that you are not restricted to only one network provider but can they unblock barred phones???
Please can some who know about phones help me out cos I want to know whether my phone can still be of use!!
Thanks a lot!

Edit:They've sent me a replacement sim so I just need to know about the phone itself!

No your phone can't be used by anyone else. Your network provider has barred your IMEI number and it is totally unusable on all networks.
There are some people out there that can change the IMEI number but you'll be hard pressed to find out as it's highly illegal and most people who know a lot about phones will run a mile if you ask about it.

A lot of people here seem to be confusing unbarring and unlocking, they are totally different things. Unbarring as i've stated above is illegal and the only way is to change the IMEI number.
Unlocking is getting a code or cable and software to unlock your phone so you can use any network provider, some phones you can get the codes free from unlocking calculators on the net (mostly Nokias) but most of the other makes and a lot of the higher spec nokias you need a cable and software (and it's not the data cables you get with the phone). Some shops/market stalls will do it for you for a fee, or phone your network provider they will tell you what to do and charge a fee.
Hope this has been of some help to you.

It used to be but a new tech has been bought into recent phones so that any phone that has been blocked or barred is rendered useless and nothing can unlock it. It'll depend on how new your phone is. It sucks when you have your phone stolen. I hate thieves.

No, the phone can not be reactivated. If someone comes to my store with a stolen ESN (or IMEI...same thing), the policy is to lock the door and call the cops.
