I am in high school and the most effective fundraiser we did was a penny war. Each class brought in pennies for their jar and could could put all other forms of money into the other grades and it counted against the other grade. I go to a high school with less then 400 students and we rasied quite a bit. I brought in $50 in pennies and 30 in 1 dollar bills. We did this a while ago but it worked well

I would go for the No-Kill Animal Shelter or the canned food drive. Those would be the two I would be most likely to contribute to, and I am a high school student.

All of these are great causes and deserving of support and fund raising efforts, however, search within yourself and support the one you feel most strongly about.
Each year my kids schools have drives to collect food for local food banks and to support our troops - the class with the highest participation level gets a pizza party donated the the school faculty and PTA.
Ask your local mall if you can set up a collection table by one of the entrances to accept donations. Or perhaps a bake sale. Get your neighborhood involved - raffle of things that your neighbors can use such as car washes, lawn work or babysitting - these are great ways to earn for the charity of your choice and will only cost you a little of your time.

Care packages are always sent to our armed forces, Make a wish foundation get alot of donations through surveys { I just gave to them last week with points that totaled $10.00 etc} Those are done through Churches,
City Halls members, Good will etc. I would give to the No-Kill animal shelter.

All of these are great. My 2 favorites are:
1. Care packages to our Marines. It is a real Moral booster.
2. No kill animal shelter.
Ideas for fundraisers... Chili cookoff... entry fee for contestant. Tasters fee... then everyone votes for their favorite.

My son went to school with a little boy who had lukemia. Make A Wish foundation took the little boy to see a New York Yankee game and to meet the players, etc, he spent an entire weekend in New York.
Anyway, before meeting this little boy and his family, Make A Wish foundation did not seem personal to us. But once we were able to see what they did for this little boy and his family, I know in my heart they are such a worthy cause.
The little boy passed away the following weekend from the cancer. My son's class helped raise the money to pay for him to have a nice headstone on his grave. (Something no one wants to raise money for).
Aside from Make a Wish, I'd go with the food bank - its local, you can see what a difference it makes to people around you

No kill shelter. Someone needs to support those creatures that cannot take care of themselves.

one of the most precious causes is our freedom. Since it isn't free then it stands to reason that supporting our troops would be worth while.
