The starter is usually held on by 2 or 3 bolts. Remove one cable from the battery. Then remove the bolts that are holding the starter onto the engine. Don't drop it on yer head, or hands!
Remove the nut that holds the battery cable onto the starter. Then install the new starter, with the cable connected and the nut tight. After yer all done underneath, then reinstall the battery cable where you disconnected it from the battery, and try it. Should work--provided the starter was bad, and not something else keeping it from starting.
When in doubt, ask a friend or somebody familiar with starting systems! Do this before purchasing a new or rebuilt starter! Some electrical products aren't returnable! This fact is caused by unscrupulous people who buy an electrical product, take it home, and with not having any knowlege about their problems-manage to mess the thing up, making it unusable for somebody else! So, think twice about buying that starter, until a mechanic can check it for you!
