I prefer books... that way I can get into the character's mind and get more detail... also, books last longer, and when I read, I don't feel like I'm losing brain cells... lol... if you haven't figured it out yet, I don't like tv much... :-)

Books

Then I can use my own imagination to "see" what's going on

If you are asking which version of the same story do I like better, the movie version or the original book, I love that the books take longer. With books it is almost like watching a movie that takes weeks or months. Im a slow reader. But when the movies are made it's always interesting to see how close I was in my visualization of the characters and scenarios to what the author might have really been trying to say.
Also I love with books how the story can become so much richer and more involved. With the authors world becoming almost alive, and where I spend days thinking about the characters, wondering if they will survive, or if they will make the right decisions.
Sometimes after reading a really great chapter you can close the book and still feel the world around you. Wondering what the protaganist might be doing in your situation.
I love books. Thanks for such a great question.

I like books better for many reasons, but some movies just can't be topped. Books though b/c it lets your mind imagine the world the book is in. You create the characters in your mind, and you can get lost in a great book. A movie just keeps you occupied for a couple hours, three at most, but a book can keep you up all night.

I like both, but I would prefer to read, and I have also found that most of the time if a book is made into a movie, the book is always better.

I like books because I can use my imagination but then I also like to just sit and watch the story happen in front of me.

But when it is a movie from a book, I usually like the book more. The movies usually leave out a lot of the details I enjoyed.

I like books better as well, because it forces me to use my imagination to create the scene. On rare occasion a movie will impose its characters on a book I read, but it usually doesn't affect the way I take to reading the book. I also like books better because they do have more insight into both the characters and the people writing them than a mere two hours or less(or sometimes more) can have.

There are some movies I would rather see then reading the books. Like lord of the rings and harry potter. But in all I would rather read a book. Nothing like getting lost in a great book.

I agree 100% with you. With one caveat, some movies are drop dead great: John Sayles, a good writer and also a film maker/director likes both media. Catch-22 and Shane were great both as movies and books. But, as wonderful as Polanski's "Oliver Twist" and the earlier one by David Lean, neither compared to Dickens novel. Impossible!

I totally agree with you. It depends on which book though.. my favorite author is VC Andrews.. i get into her books so much, like to the point where sometimes I feel like I am that character. I dont watch too much TV either, reading is more fun to me.
