I means they got beat by a horrid Oregon State team, and yet are still ranked #3. Florida lost to a highly ranked Auburn team and are still ranked below them. Why? Its the computers that have USC ranked so high yet Florida so low. Why is this can anyone help me here? I am at a loss for words and reasons. The BCS is crap, we need a playoff system in college football.

People keep thinking I am asking this as a pissed off Florida fan. No, you are wrong. But every year the computers love USC for some unknown reason, and I am just trying to figure it out. And to everybody that says that Florida plays an easy non-conference schedule is right. USC's is much harder, but come on the PAC-10 is no SEC by any means. I mean the only noticeable teams I have seen in it are Cal, USC and maybe Oregon, and Cal got murdered by Tennessee. So they may have a much harder non-conference schedule but their conference is horrible.

Some of you arent getting my point. I am asking why the computer love USC. I understand how it all works, but the computers for the longest period of time had USC ranked #1 over Ohio State even. Which by the way makes absolutely no sense.

it's because of the way that USC lost...it was a close game, Florida got BLOWN OUT by Auburn.
Plus, look at USC's non-conference schedule compared to Florida's:
USC:
Arkansas, Nebraska, Notre Dame
Florida:
Southern Miss, U. of Central Florida, Western Carolina
USC's schedule is brutal, and that gives them more respect.
Want respect? Stop scheduling cupcakes.
Phatpat: I totally agree with you. My team (Texas) is guilty of scheduling cupcakes (besides #1 Ohio State). And their BCS ranking suffered because of it. To be honest, I was totally surprised that USC jumped up the rankings as quickly as they did. But Florida fans, get serious. You almost lost to South Carolina at home. Your team hasn't looked dominating all season (besides beating Division II schools).

They have the toughest schedule in the nation and computer loves that. Are you really that confident Florida would do well in a playoff against all the Top teams? They beat South Carolina by 1 and that's because three missed field goals. get real, my friend.
How do you determine which confrence is the best?!?? If Tennesee routed Cal, USC routed Arkansas then Arkansas routed Tennesee. How can you argue that SEC is better than Pac-10?
USC>Arkansas>Tennessee>Cal ?1?!?!?!!??!
The hype about SEC is so biased. Florida would be detroyed if they ever played in the Pac-10 if based on SEC fan's logic. If there's ever a playoff, SEC is gonna be exposed big time cuz the other confrence's champions will demolish its best team.

the conference a team is in has less of an effect on a team's ranking than a team's strength of schedule. the score probably plays a part in it too.
if michigan beats ohio state by 3 points in quadruple overtime, i'm sure michigan will be #1 and ohio state #2. (and that's if USC beats cal)
but if michigan beats ohio state by 30 points, then they'll probably slide down to #4.
there's a lot of different things that can affect the rankings.

Honestly is really pisses me off. I expected them to go #5 and they end up going #3!?!? Florida should be up there in front of USC. Also, Louisville should not be that low on the BCS standings. They are a great team that lost 1 game because they played bad. I agree with your question completely and I think this needs to get fixed. But let me tell you something, don't be too worried about it because USC is playing 2 great teams in their next 3 games and they are bound to lose atleast 1. If they lose and Rutgers go undefeated, then Rutgers just might go #2. So watch out for that!
