Take her to a Naturopath and ask them to do a 'Vega Test' which is where she holds a metal rod and is tested for allergies amongst many other things.
You wife sounds like she has digestive problems that causes bloating which may lead to irritable bowl syndrome.
She may need to under go detoxification of the digestives. Weight Watchers is good for one thing but bad in that it has aspartame in its foods. This is the sweet replacement for sugar and it can cause terrible bloating in some people. It is not the food but the additive sweetner. All sugar replacements have aspartame and for some people this ingrediant is very dangerous. In fact for most people it is but I am not a professional in the matter, only someone whom is aware of the affects of this stuff and when you stop consuming it the problems do go away. The problems re surface when I consume the foods. Does your wife also suffer headaches...as for many headaches, bloated tummy and fatigue seem to be connected. Liver cleansing and bowel cleansing would be a high recommendation...although Doctor would beg to differ. See a Naturopath, it will be well worth it and she will need to see them for up to three months, so be prepared as what took a long time to be created will not disappear overnight.
Good Luck.
Blessings be yours in peace and light,
Harriett Potty ;)

Could be water retention, but it sounds more like IBS or colitis, both cause uncomfortable intermittent swelling. Does she have any bowel problems? ie constipation or constantly using the loo? excessive wind? Pain?
Sorry to be personal, bu if she has any of the above, a trip to the doctor may be in order.
If she is just bloating up but not getting any pain or bowel problems, she could try charcoal tablets, available in any pharmacy, its a great remedy for breaking up excess gas, which it may simply be.
If she isnt in pain, try the charcoal tablets for a month, if no difference, then go to the doctor and see what he suggests.

Never heard of, or experienced bloating to that degree before in such a short time. She should maybe go back to the Dr and say she is worried. Maybe she swallows a whole melon everyday and isn't telling you.

It's very likely that she suffers from water retention. Nettle or dandelion tea can help with this, as can drinking lots of water- sounds silly but it's true!! Get her to visit her GP to describe her symptoms and get a thorough MOT. Does she have high blood pressure? Water tablets will also help to treat this.
