Firefox is a very viable alternative, and it's free. In fact, the latest release of Internet Explorer (IE 7) added features that Firefox already has.

have not messed with IE7 yet yet between Firefox and Opera it comes right down to how lots complexity / featureitis you prefer. Opera is a large browser and does dissimilar stuff besides. Firefox is a large browser. I prefer the simplicity of Firefox and prefer to pick standalone apps / extensions / plugins to advance it extremely than having each and every thing in-built.

There are firefox(voted best by fanboys everywhere (me included)), opera(mmmmm proprietary), safari(granny smith?), lynx(text based), netcat(geeks only :P), telnet(oooohhhh burn!), 3B(very neat, the web in 3D... 3b.net ), seamonkey(a continuation of the mozilla project. includes email client, browser, IRC client, and so much more. http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/ ), and of course, the linux user's best friend, Konquerer. and the GBrowser if myths are true...

yes ofcourse....the best browser at the presant is mozilla firefox.....version 2.0

i must say it had those tab functions before IE,or netscape...and its realy user friendly.......its vastly advanced ...........
and thats why google supports it and are together with mozilla.....
yahoo supports IE7..........
