I'm old enough to remember when not everybody did. Some people, especially in the rural areas, still used outhouses, and it was a total nuisance. Hooray for indoor plumbing.

Well, crappin out by the curb just isn't done anymore. And, the wind blows all the paper work all over the neighborhood. Like on your cars windshield and etc. Course now if we release the restrictions on animals they might just help keep it clean don't ya know.

I don't know, but i would guess because a hole in the ground couldn't keep the smell in check. Plus an upstairs hole would be weired.
