The developers are working on Virtual Villagers 2 right now, though I'm not sure when exactly it will be available.

Last Day of Work has not announced that there will be a Virtual Villagers 2. Naturally, before the game is available for purchase they have to create it, which hasn't been done or even considered at this point it appears.
