A writing competition has asked of entries to be double spaced.What is double space ?Does it mean two spaces between each word.Or double space the lines and paragraphs?

Nope, single space between each word, but double space the lines. Heres the easiest way to do it. Write your entire paper. Then at the end, press CTRL-A (Which selects everything), then press CTRL-2 (Which double spaces everything). Hope that helps.

double spaced between the lines. if you are using Microsoft Word, you can set the page to automatically double space the lines. go to "Format" then to "paragraph" then to where is says line spacing and choose "double."

It means two spaces between lines. You can have Word do this for you using the Format tool and choose paragraph

If you do this when your are done with your paper, write half as many pages as required, because double-spacing makes it take up twice as many pages.
