i'm not sure of the context of your reasoning but 'regular' isolation, as opposed to pc (protective custody), is almost self-explanatory. in the parlance of military or criminal corrections, pc is one where a person is put away & guarded, sometimes against his will, for his/her own protection. he/she will be behind bars but not in general population. if the person was, his/her life expectancy would be counted in minutes. regular isolation is when a prisoner requests a place by themselves simply for personal reasons, not medical or legal, just personal. this would be considered 'regular isolation'.
