Of course studying is important, but I bet you already know that! Here are some other things that will help you out.
Don't stress. If you are stressed or nervous during the test, you will tend to make silly mistakes. If you are well prepared just take the test and remind yourself that you did everything you could to prepare.
Focus. Make sure you are not distracted. If there is noise distracting you (even something silly like the person next to you keeps breathing really loud), don't be afraid to ask a teacher if you can move.
Sleep. If you study all night the night before, you will be too tired to remember and focus.
Eat. If you have a good breakfast and drink water, it will improve your concentration.
If you really get nervous about tests, study ahead of time, and then the night before the test, don't study for it at all. Let your mind focus on something else and relax before your big day!

When taking your test:
1. take a scrap paper and draw two lines down vertically to make 3 columns.
2. the first column is for writing the number of the question you think you know the answer to but are unsure.
3. the second column is for answers you are pretty much guessing on
4. the 3rd column is for questions that take a lot of time to solve or ones that you have no idea as to the answer.
When you take your test, just go from the 1st answer to the last without stopping, answering only the questions you KNOW the answer to. You mark the questions you dont know for sure on your scrap paper in the appropriate column. This gives you momentum and often times answers are revealed by questions that come up later in the test. When you go back to answer unsure questions, you will have more answers then the first time around. This should greatly improve your test taking skills and give you a new outlook on conquering exams.

I think the best way is to study way ahead of time. Then even if you don't feel confident you actually do know most of the stuff, you don't have to worry about forgetting it because you just crammed all night.

i like acronems (spelling) and i find them very helpful. they should be back ups to stuff u already no. keep repeating ur acronyms over and over again until u get the test and IMMEDIATELY when u get it right them down and right down wut they stand for. that way if u feel like ur forgetting something, then go back to it and refresh ur memory.
but also try studying harder and not cramming. good luck!
