Your Thesis Statement:
“Alexander is a powerful ruler because he created a mighty military; he spreads Greek culture, and has the capability to control the largest empire in the world.”

First he WAS a powerful ruler, because he inspired and led a mighty military.

My Thesis Statement:
Alexander was a powerful ruler because he inspired his men and led a mighty army. He unified Greece and went on to conquer Persia and most of the known eastern world. What made him a great ruler was; his skill in combat, the great loyalty he inspired in his men and his ability to unify all the City Nations of Greece.

According to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thesis
“A typical thesis has a title page, an abstract, a table of contents, and a bibliography. Other components might include acknowledgements, a dedication, indexes and appendices, glossaries, lists of tables, images or figures, lists of abbreviations, and so on.”

According to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thesis_statement
“A thesis statement, also called a thesis, is the main point that is to be discussed by an essay. Usually backed up by examples, the thesis statement is the theme of the whole piece. The thesis statement also provides the reader with a general idea of what the essay is going to be about. Thesis statements are very specific and to the point. This way the essay stays focused and narrow on the subject matter.

Generally, the thesis statement is introduced at the beginning of the piece describing the topic and how the writer is going to analyze the information on that topic. The topic is also summarized at the end, giving the reader, and essay, closure.
In university or high school writing, a thesis will typically contain multiple paragraphs. So will an essay, although it's possible for an essay to consist of one lengthy paragraph (see topic sentence). For example, "In the early 1970s, a rock group named The Ramones captured the fancy of a generation of young people who mimicked the tattered fashion and punk attitude of these genuinely talented musicians, boosting them to fame."

There is also a concluding statement that has to flow with the thesis statement. Do not forget to use your thesis as a supporting sentence in your conclusion.”

King Phillip tried to unify all of Greece, a job that Alexander took up and completed.

Alexander was a powerful ruler because he had a mighty military. He continued the training that he father Philip II of Macedon, had started and he joined his father's Calvary. By serving with his Calvary he gained their respect. He spent the same time in the field as his men, he shared the risks they took, and he slept along with them. When took over for his father he was revered by his men and greatly honored. He built a loyalty that would cause his men to willingly die for him. After the death of King Philip his army proclaimed Alexander to be king.

Because Alexander was such a popular general for his army he had very loyal troops and in battle that was a great advantage. They would willingly follow his orders even if they seemed a little crazy.

In one famous battle against the Persian King Darius II Alexander’s Calvary could have caught up with the King and captured or killed him. Instead he wheeled his Calvary around to help his infantry, thus saving his Army. By saving his Army it allowed him to continue his conquest to unite Greece and later to conquer Persia.

In another great battle Alexander was fighting an island nation. He had effectively disbanded his navy so he could concentrate all his forces in his Army. To win that battle he ordered his men to build a causeway out the mile or so to reach the island. He also used the powerful siege weapon the scorpion, to defend his troops. As his causeway grew, the island defenders sent boats out to try and ram it, fireboats were used to try and burn the wooden piles that formed the wall for the rock causeway. Then marines tried to board the causeway and destroy it. Alexander defended himself and his troops until his causeway reached the island and he was able to take the City State.

The Gordon Knot was a complex knot made around the tow bar on a wagon. It was such a complex knot that no one could have untied it. Alexander thought outside the box and simply cut the knot with his sword thus solving the problem.

Alexander unified Greece and chased the Persian King Darius until he conquered Persia. Later Darius surrendered and Alexander let him live. When assassins killed Darius to try and curry Alexander’s favor he had the assassins killed.

By unifying all of Greece, by adding Persia, and later by making conquests in India he built the largest Empire until that time. He had a policy of building several cities called Alexandria, and he showed leniency to his enemies, who surrendered. He was terrible in his vengeance against his enemies who fought him. Alexander was a man of science and he liked to raise cities in his wake. He liked to use the most advanced technology of the day, and he was a man educated in the science of his day. His tutor was no less than Socrates. King Philip was big on education and he made sure that his son was educated by the best man of his day. Socrates training helped to make a great thinker, a great leader, and a great man.

I know this to be true, but you have to find the sources and verify it. The Wikipedia article will get you started be sure to check out the resources listed at the end of the article.

Alexander was significant in history because not only did he build the greatest empire of his day, but he inspired Jules Caesar and other great Romans to build the largest Empire the world has ever seen.

Conclusion:
Alexander didn’t just create the greatest empire of his day, but it was his work that inspired Julius Caesar and Pompey the Great to build the greatest empire ever seen.

Correct me if I am wrong but, I thought a thesis was a statment that a person wrote predicting the outcome of a situation. When I read your statement I can't figure out what it is you are trying to predict. If you are focusing on Alexander as a ruler, then you could try something like: Alexander a ruler of many, strong, powerful, respected or weak, poor, and destitute chose to guide his nation.
If you are looking at Alexander as being a leader try: Alexander a ruler in many ways has led or misled a mighty military in controlling the largest empire in the world. By starting out this way, it allows you to write in a way that compares the strengths and weaknesses that Alexander had and gives you the opportunity to argue that your views of Alexander being a powerful ruler is the best way to view Alexander. In concluding you simply want to recap your thesis and give a brief overview of what your paper is about. Leave the finer points for the dialogue of your paper. Hope this helps.

A thesis statement is the main idea of your report. It is usually the last sentence of your first paragraph. If you write what your report is about I will check back to see if I can help you come up with a thesis statement.

Alexander was the most influential Greek ruler because he created a mighty military that was capable of spreading Greek culture and maintaining control over one of the largest empires in history. Then in your paper you can talk about what Alexander did and why this makes him the most influential.
