I don't think it's out of alignment, because when we are driving on a straight road and let go of the wheel, it doesn't veer in either direction. Any ideas? Thanks!

Please be sure to tell me how you know. My husband will ask! :)

Just an idea:

Are the wheels in balance? I lost a wheel weight after getting new tires on my SUV. It felt like it had a wobble over 65 mph. I took it in and they re-balanced the tire putting a new wheel weight on it. The darn thing fell off a second time and I could see the clean square at the edge of the wheel where it had been.

When I called the first time they said there might be a belt broken in my tire.

The tires probably need balancing or are out of round. Go to a tire store if the tires have good tread ask them to re-balance them. Cost is between $10 & $15 each.

If the tread is worn you are feeling the wear bars and you need new tires.

If it happens when the car is sitting for a long period but goes away shortly after you drive for about 5 minutes it is just a poor grade of tire that has settled. Driving will warm up the tire and redistribute the weight.

It is most likely the wheel/tire balancing issue.

Tire balance, wheel alignment, tire wear, air in tires. Worn shocks, loose wheel bearings, worn tie rod ends.

more than likely you need the tires balanced and while they are doing that they can see if there is a bent rim or a bad tire.
