I'm glad you asked about the UN because many don't understand that it serves no purpose in the U.S. and was originally formed by several European leaders during WW2.
We joined later to ensure that Germany was dismantled and a gov't established that would keep them from starting another World War.

Good question and I have the answer. Go to the Library of Congress' website at: loc.gov and post your question there. For that matter you can post any schoolwork question on their site and save yourself a lot of time and trouble asking everyone and their brother for a good answer. Good fortune to you.
