In ancient times, when cell phones didn't work correctly (which happened much more than today) - people would keep a backup piece of technology in their schoolbag.
Using this "pencil" device and a small scrap of paper, then would write the message they intended for their friend. Then, when not able to talk but given just enough time to exchange notes, friends in school hallways everywhere would trade notes.
This usually led to hilarious outbursts in the next class, sometimes with the unintended consequence of having the teacher confiscate the note and reading it to the entire class. To ensure the greatest humor quotient, be sure to sign all your notes with your school principal's name in case your friend must read it out loud to the class.
Typical subjects were boys, girls, homework and teachers. Later, as the "TV" device come into vogue, TV shows were often discussed. Today, the next flight to Mars, Rocky 52, or The Xbox Olympics are common subjects.

create the message (depends on your phone) and send it to the person's 10 digit (area+prefix+number) phone number (for US). Their plan mus allow them to receive SMS messages, or they won't receive it.
for international, use the "+" symbol and country code... eg, +63xxxxxxxxxx for Philippines.
