Try thinking 'backwards'.... engineers do it all the time.... Think about your deadline you set for yourself first - If you want an early deadline - treat it like it's the last second. Then think backwards.....
Example.... I have somewhere to be at 6:00 pm. - NOT 6:05... it takes an hour to get there...so I have to leave by 5, then I have to get ready (that takes another hour), so I have to be home by 4..... but I need to go shopping and I need 4 hours - so I need to leave the house by 12....
Just apply the same thing to your target time.... believe me - it takes a lot of stress out of life - and if you learn it early - your life will be easier.

Consider the result (similar to above) before choosing to follow the familiar pattern. Your dissatisfaction with the results of procrastination must be stronger than the inertia of familiarity.
You have already done the necessary first step - become aware of the situation.
Good Luck!

get home, do your papers, and tell yourself you can't eat, sleep, etc. until you get these papers done.
