Your question is not clear and yes, some women dressed and acted like men fighting and dying. Yankees had the best of everything both before and after the war, they followed the European fashions. Southern women had to redesign and reuse old clothes and styles. We had to use crackers as apples in what was called Mock Apple Pie. To get an idea how bad things were, after the war they executed the Commander of Andersonville prision for not feeding the yankees prisioners better; they were however receiving the same rations as the Confederate soldiers.

Every soldier has there own perform. But when a woman can play as like a man then it is very lazy and hated. Woman can not play like a man. So they are hated everywhere in the war.
