I learned that in my Catholic freshmen high school science class in '72. Now I cannot find that info. After birth the numbers have dropped from 2:1 to 1.04:1 in the last 30 years. I feel more women are opting to abort males more often than females. My Mom had 7 boys and two girls and miscarried the last famale.

I learned in Biology class that more males are conceived than females. However, males are miscarried and aborted more often than females. A lot of women that have abortions don't know the sex of the fetus. In some parts of the world sons are prefered so many couples will find out the sex of the fetus and abort it if it's a girl. Male babies are also more likely to die in infancy.

I remember the ratio being 2 males to 1 female are conceived, but more males are miscarried, still born, or die as infants than females. Abortion probably fits in there too, but I have not heard anything (at least in the US) to suggest that the sex of the child is a cause for abortion.

Not true, if anything the ration is about 1.08:1 in favour of females. it has alot to do with the the cromosone makeup in the individual sperm. So in all reality a child could be a boy or a gril almost equally at the time of conception.

That wouldn't make sense. If we were biologically programmed to have 4 males to one female, this would lead to alot of agression, violence, and difficulty socially and in breeding. If anything, more female children are aborted, especially in developing nations where males are preferred. Currently, the world's population is 52% female.

No, that is not true. The ratio is still about 50/50 in the US. Woman live longer, on average, so there is always a greater proportion of woman in the population.

Sorry, but its the luck of the draw. I have 5 friends who had kids in the last year and they have all been girls. Which ever sperm makes it through the egg fastest wins.

The ratio at conception is 102/98......roughly.

However, the ratio of babies that survive naturally is about 50/50 exactly
