I understand you may not want this answer, but here I go.
My sister got a fish from a friend for her birthday. I'll warn you now, they aren't fun at all. It's not just cruel to the cat and fish, but to you as well. Since you want one, you will most likely have all the responsibility for it. Fish cannot play with you, or be petted. You can't touch it, and it can't make any sound. All you do is watch it sit around in its fish bowl. You'll find that the only time you spend with it is to clean it's bowl and to feed it. There is no need to waste your money on water, the fish, the bowl, and food. The fish will end up dieing soon anyway, and you will be sad. Now, let's review. If you hadn't gotten a fish you would have: not wasted your money, not freaked out a cat, not freaked out an inocent fish, you wouldn't be sad, not wasted your time cleaning/feeding it, and not wasted your money.
Trust me, you don't want a fish. You already have a cat, anyway.

Not all cats live up to their stereotype. We never trained our cat but it left our parakeet alone. Put a lid on the fish tank. Close the lid. The cat can watch the fish all he wants to without harming it or himself. Cats entertained, fish entertained. Fish typically aren't scared of cats. Mine never were. It isn't cruel to have a fish and a cat at the same time. Just put a secure lid on the fish tank. Fish are very relaxing pets. I am an extremely busy college student and the fact that I don't have to walk them, pet them, throw a ball or move a feather is great! When I have a spare minute or two I watch them swim in their bowls. I put time aside once a week to change their water. And feed them each day. I love them and I think they are the perfect pet for a busy life style. (as long as you don't get to many)

Have a good stand for your tank. Secure it so the cat cannot turn it over. Cats are naturally curious. Probably the cat would , in time ignore the fish. Just cat-proof your tank. If this is your first encounter with fish buy some economical fish, provided your mom lets you get fish. Can she trust you enough to care for the fish? It's an obligation when you take on any kind of pet. Pets totally depend on their owner. Know about a pets requirenments before you rush in.

Hi there, your mum doens't allow you to get a fish not really just of the reason of your cat. But the responsible and the maintenance of fish tank is against your mum housework.

So to confidence your mum for it, you would have to seek for the problem and think of the solution and list out for her in order her to get u a fish.

1. Buy a tank with cover, but not expensive one, normal tank will do.

2. Buy those fish that your mum love it and some that is you types.

3. Show the responsible you to her to encourage and trust you in it.

4. Tell mummy how much you love fishy and will probably take good care of them well.

I think try to make your mum happy and talk to her in the right time, especially while she was in the mood and happy at that time, timing is important for discussion with our mummy..^_^

My cats enjoy watching my fish. I don't think it's stressfull for the cats or the fish. Just tell her how many indorr cats have to look outside at all the birds flying around(if she thinks watching the fish is cruel). Plus most cats don't even know what to do with a fish if the catch one...

My cats never paid much attention to the fish. Guess it just depends on the cat. I'd venture to say your mom doesn't want you to have a fish, (maybe she knows the care & money involved?) and is using the cat as an excuse IMO. Good luck!

put a lid on the tank--the cats like to watch, and unless the cat actually hits the sides of the tank, the fish do not mind

merely tell your mom you're prepared to take finished accountability doing water differences, feeding, cleansing the filter out, etc. tell her it merely takes a couple of minutes of it sluggish each and every week, and that it will assist you be prepared and in charge. i became into merely 10 whilst my father offered a 5 gallon tank additionally populated by making use of male guppies, i became into in can charge of the popular maintenance of the tank. Your guppies will improve so no extra desirable than 4 in a 5 gallon tank is somewhat helpful. you'll be careful although, male guppies could nicely be territorial. specifically whilst no women are modern. they could attack one yet another in the time of the night time, so don't be shocked if one in all them has a huge chew of his tail lacking in the morning...
