My local newspaper has two stories that make no sense. First the local prison is being sued because over the weekend they found knives on three inmates so they put them in lockdown. The prisoners are sueing because the will miss classes at a local collage they were attending at night with guards. The state was paying for this. They live better then me because when I went to collage I worked days & went to school nights. Yes I had the GI BILL but it only covered my tuetion. I had to pay for everything else. Second story. The Democrates want the prisoners at Guantanamo to have the same rights as american prisoners in our prisons. Does that mean if some of them want to go to collage do we have to spend money on them to do this.?What happened to the good old days of the rock pile?

I see your point of view....however, I was put in jail for 3 weeks due to his word against mine during a domestic abuse confrontation. I was put in jail on his word, but I couldn't Baker Act him with a suicide note. All because I am a woman in the south. (The police eventually did discover the truth). Innocent until proven guity is a crock of sh**! Have you ever been falsely arrested? It's not fun. The teacher who came in asked me if I had my GED I told her that I have a teaching degree. She asked what I was doing there. Like you, I had a grant for tuition, but worked 2-3 part time jobs to cover my other expenses. I still graduated with a B average. (2.9). Not bad! Your second point, I think that the Geneva Convention should apply to all prisoners. What happened was an embarrassment to all Americans. We don't condone torture. And, not to be paranoid, but under the patriot act, the gov't could read this & come arrest me, charge me as an enemy combatant & I would have no recourse. That's not my America!

If the state wants to pay to give them collage lessons, that is interesting. Perhaps if you had attended a college instead of a collage, they could have helped.
