It was Jim Brown. (Born 1936).He was a former award winning American Football player. He played the genial giant role in quite a few other films as well. Notable other films include Any Given Sunday (1999), Mars Attacks and a voiceover in Small Soldiers (all the voices of the soldiers were done by surviving dirty dozen cast).
His most recent appearance is in a TV movie, Sideliners, this year.
