Should have links to other sites that give definition and provide resources for anything related to Attention Deficit Disorder.

I don't know what studies there are about genetic or hereditary causes, but as for effects, the families I know are affected because the parents have to seek help for their children to function in school, and to obtain and maintain the right medications for them, while siblings can suffer if the affected kids require more parental attention than the others, who may start to act out, too, in reaction. In severe cases, juveniles with ADD can exhibit a pattern of disruption or criminal behavior due to impulsiveness, and if this leads to incarceration or detention, can affect the whole family.

Families may seek therapy and counseling on what they can do to assist the person affected, such as how to stay organized and on schedule with daily tasks including school or work; professional and medical advice on medications or other mental health resources or benefits that may apply; if special assistance or programs that can be requested at school to accommodate ADD students.

Since these issues are relatively new, the best resources I can refer are support groups and organizations that can help families dealing with this condition. Personally, I believe that ADD is related to the evolution of technology in information and media processing, that since we are constantly exposed to visual and audial stimulus due to the information age, that our brains are evolving to process signals faster or to multitask. So if the brain is not wired or conditioned to monitor or screen these signals, individuals can feel overwhelmed by too much hitting at once.

I don't know if there is research into that, but that is what I personally feel is happening. People are more sensitive these days. I have heard a lot of people with theories that ADD is caused by lack of discipline -- that if parents do not consistently discipline children at an early age to obey or behave based on fear of punishment, such as spanking, then they do not develop the mental or emotional discipline to screen out extraneous impulses. If there is any research into that, I would like to know.
Otherwise, you could mention some common perceptions or theories in a concluding paragraph about the need for further research to resolve these unanswered questions.
