I know that in the third trimester, you feel tired. But I am 33 weeks and am completely exhausted. It's actually getting to the point where it is affecting my life. (I am unable to clean my house in a day, and a lot of nights, I sit at home, not doing anything.) I get plenty of sleep and rest, and sometimes, I think all the resting makes it worse! Did anyone else go through this and if so, did you have any "tricks" to fight off the fatigue?

Definately speak w/ your OB - infact call and make a call and see if you can get in early. More importantly, how has the baby's activity been? Do you do kick counts? You should get at least 10 in 20 minutes. If you don't - drink some juice and lie down and time the kicks again. If you don't ge those 10 kicks, or if you notice any unusal 'quietness' go to the ER and have an ultrasound. It could be just the way your body is reacting to this pregnancy, but it's always best to err on the side of caution then to brush this off as 'just a pregnancy thing'. Please call your provider and discuss testing for anemia and anything else that may be causing this fatigue. God Bless you and your little one!

I would get tested for Anemia. It is very common in pregnancy, then again so is everything else that can make you feel ill!!
If your not anemic, I did find that making myself get up and out of the house did help to ward off the tiredness (at least for awhile). Lying around did seem to make it worse, but at the same time get all the sleep you can while you can. Rest really is best right now. Don't push it. Good luck and congratulations!

I would ask the midwife to check iron levels and for a thyroid blood test. I think the exhaustion you describe sounds a little more than normal pregnancy exhaustion, and one of the more common causes of that extreme fatigue (aside from low iron levels) is low thyroid levels.

Edited to add: GOOD LUCK and I hope you feel better really really soon.

You might be Hypoglycemic, or possibly anemic. Eat foods heavy in Iron it should boost your energy. Tuna, Salmon and Broccoli are a few prime choices. The best people to inform you would be the people whom work for WIC. Even if your family doesn't need the food they offer getting a consultation will help tremendously.

You might also want to start drinking more smoothie type beverages. when you buy a smoothie at a juic place they offer extra nurients in a powder that they can add to your drink. buying a smoothie once a week for energy is much cheaper and easier to handle than tons of different herbal vitamins from GNC... Good luck

The only thing I have found that relieved fatigue for me is to take short breaks during my activities. My doctor told me to take a break about every thirty minutes or so and wait about ten to fifteen minutes before continuing my activities.
