If your roller is not working, you probably need to replace the belt. You can unscrew the cover and just put on a new belt. Good luck!!

Recently, one of the pivots that hold the roller in place in my vacuum cleaner broke...This meant that it would no longer allow the roller to roll. I replaced the belt, but to no avail!

When I tried to get the repair piece, I was referred to Sears' home repair division...It was actually easier for me to just buy a new vacuum cleaner, at that point.

The belt is burned or broken. It should tell you how to replace the belt in your owners manual. You can get new belts at most any department store. Know the make and model of your vacuum when you go.

Check the belt, especially if you saw smoke or smelled burned rubber before it stopped working. If you had listed the make I may have been able to tell you where it is.

Peace.
