Hmm yes, Singaporeans do speak English. Singapore was once colonised by the British, so that may explain why Singaporeans speak English.

English is taught as a compulsory subject from primary to secondary school (age 7 to 16).

By the way, did you mean to ask where Singapore is? Well if you did, Singapore is in South-east Asia. On a world map, it is below West Malaysia, and in between East Malaysia and Sumatra (Indonesia).

What is widely spoken here is not exactly English in the real purest sense, but rather its Singlish as the locals call it.Its sort of a cross of between pidgin English and the various local dialects here,Its easy to pick up Singlish. The golden rule is to add " lah " at the end of sentences. Here are some samples(for shopping)
This is so expensive lah !
Please cheaper lah !
OK lah !
Give it a try ,it works wonder. But anyway you shouldn't be bother by all this too much.Just let your money do the real talking instead. That's the language every locals here understand perfectly well.

Yes...English is a mode of communication between most races in Singapore.

In addition, Singaporeans use Mandarin, Bahasa Malayu (Malay), Hindi / Tamil, Hokkien, Cantonese, Shanghainese, Hakka amongst their own race.

Furthermore, some Singaporeans have taken third languages in Schools....such as German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean....etc etc...

Cheers....

My guess is 95% of Singaporean understands English.
Maybe 75% read and write some form of English. :)

Singapore is just North of the Equator, i think it's about 1 degree plus.

It's North West of Australia.

It North of Java(Indonesia) and East of Sumatra(Indonesia).

It's South of Malaysia(peninsular), which is south of Thailand, which is south of Burma, which is beside Bangladesh (east side) which is beside India(east side).

I tried :)
