It depends on what kind of modem you have. When it happened to us with a previous service there was a reset switch on the modem - it was wireless through our telephone provider. Does your service provider have a help line? That has often worked for us when we had problems.

Start by telling us what you use for a modem! We have no idea whether you are refering to a dialup modem, cable, or DSL! If your PC or other peripherals are working, make sure the receptacle is not faoulty. If it isnt, replace the modem! Next time you post, provide details!
LADEE, sit back and listen! You people sometimes create more problems with your "restore the system" than the people had in the first place!

Restore your system to the day prior to the power going out, if this doesn't fix your problem, you may have to buy a new modem. Check first if there are updates to your modem drivers. Hope this helps

You can take it to a place like circuit city and they can reset your modem.

reinstall modem software and drivers.. upon incorect shutdown windows might messed up some dlls and registryes
