As you know, when somebody flies out to the cf, you write F8 or when there's a ss to 2b to 1b double play, you write 6-4-3. Here's what I want to know: What do you write in this scenario:

Runner on second. Power hitter at the plate, so the infielders are positioned deep. On a hit and run play, the batter hits a hard grounder to the left side of the infield. The runner, seeing that the ball is coming right at him, tries to get out of the way, but loses his balance and falls. As a result the ball hits him and he's out. In addition, the ball is dead once the runner is hit.
What should be written on a corecard for that play?

Base hit (single for batter).
The closest defensive player gets credit for an unassisted putout.

You credit the nearest fielder with a putout and you give the batter-runner a single.

Its going to be runner interference. batter gets a single. so you would right an R for runner interference in between bases.

I would write "runner hit" or any abbreviations you come up with. Because really, as you probably already know, there isnt a space for this type of situation. (Darn those scorebook makers! lol) But later when you look at the book you'll know what happened because you wrote it yourself. Plus its not every game that this kind of thing happens. Just make up whatever you want.
