I'm thirteen and got my first period a little over a year ago. I never had any cramps or anything then. Now I get kinda bad cramps for the first couple of days I have my period. For like the last couple of days I've been having really bad cramps (i don't have my period yet, i think I'm gonna get it soon though). They're getting so bad, that I feel like I wanna lie down all the time cuz there's this constant pain, and i'm on ibuprofen, but the cramps just keep getting worse. It changes from a dull steady ache to a really sharp almost electrical pain. what should I do to releive some of the pain? does anyone know what's wrong with me?
pls. I don't think i'm stressed out if that could do anything?
please help me!!!!

I tried a hot water compress yesterday and it helped a little, but the second I took it off, I felt worse than I did before. Is this normal? Hey, should I keep doing gym evn though I have cramps, or will that make it worse? I am excersising though.

start taking the medication a day before you expect the pain....once it starts, it's harder to stop
try a heating pad or a warm bath and try to relax....sometimes breathing exercises even help
also, make sure you eat healthy and exercise regularly....I can't believe when I get off track how much worse my cramps are!
you might want to talk to your doctor, they could give you a prescription for the pain and check for any possible problems such as fibroid or endometriosis
when I was your age, I had horrible cramps, and I got on birth control pills a couple of years later, and that reduced the pain probably by 80%.....so you may also talk to your doctor about that

That is normal for women who are on there period.Nothing to be worried about. Try using Midol. I know that Ibuprofen does not work for me with the cramps, because I get really bad cramps to. I also sometimes put like a heating pad or something on. But that is only when they are really bad. Well hope I helped!

Okay. 15 here...going through the same things you are. To relieve pain I always lie down with my knees up and that usually helps. Don't listen to these people...don't take midol!!! Pamprin=better. Go Pamprin!!! And yeah, PE will make it hurt a little worse at first, but believe it or not, it will make it better in the long run. Excersizing releases endorphins into your body...(so does chocolate...that's why we crave it so much when we're cramping) and the endorphins help easy the pain and help make you a happier person. So, do your best in PE without making it hurt too much. Good luck with all of this.
May God be with you and your cramps...lol,
Lata

Well I have heard that you can take a hot bath, also do some exercise, be as active as you can even though you wanna lie down you probably shouldn't, you should exercise. I used to have really extremely bad cramps, and I would just keep on moving around and they would go away. Also heat seems to help a lot, put something warm on your stomach. Also drink water, it can help a little

Wow that sounds familiar!!! I used to get cramps so bad I couldn't get out of bed. Then I took ibuprofen so much it stopped working. One of the things you can do is excercise. You aren't going to want to, but if you do sit ups and walk, then the muscles in your abdomen will relax, and your cramps will lessen. You can also try using a heating pad to relax the muscles. You might also think about getting put on birth control. Even if you aren't having sex yet, the hormones that are in birth control can help you with your cramps because the pill helps thin out your uterine lining, giving you less to shed, making your cramps little to non-existent.

Its normal and they make pills to help the pain. Try Midol.
A warm compress like a hot water bottle against your belly can help too. Good luck.

First of all, do you any cold or drink any cold stuff? usually that causes cramps. Or maybe you are eating fresh things like milk(milk products), juice, or ice cream. You can't eat or drink these things while you have your period because usually these things causes cramps. At least this is what happened to me and I noticed that i was consuming these things. Try also to cover your stomach too. At least try and see what happens.

Please go and see a gyno with your mother. I am not sure if they will give you something stronger at your age. Regular exercise can ease cramping.
I feel for you honey. I don't know a single woman who hasn't had a bad time with cramps at some point. I know how exhausting and painful it can be.
