Every Christmas our families all get together (about 45 of us) for a big Party. Every one of us (child to oldest adult) has to do a "PARTY PIECE" It has befallen me to perform a MAGIC TRICK(S), something really "WOW, COO, HOW ON EARTH DID HE DO THAT" sort of thing Do you know any good web-sites/ addresses that sell not too difficult but very impressive tricks /magic. NOT CARD TRICKS, I'VE TRIED THEM & I'M CRAP

The question is, are you prepared to do all the work practising to get your act perfect before Christmas?
People can give you tricks, but it is your presentation which makes them look like magic, only you can develop that.
Look through magic books at your local library, but don't just see the tricks, see the possibilities of developing them to your personality.
You don't really want to have them guessing how you did it, you give them a ridiculous theory, then go and prove the impossible.
You could be a mind reader.
A Crazy inventor.
Someone asking for help with a problem.
Any trick you get could become a miracle to your audience, it is up to you.

A small amount of preparation needed but thats all - this trick works on a maths basis.
You ask someone to give you . . . . a) their age b) the year they were born c) the year they were married and d) the number of years they have been married for.
Make a big show of adding these numbers up and they will come to 4012 (being the year x 2).
Get the phone book out - turn to page 40 and then check out the 12th phone number (which you will have done earlier) ask the person to read out the phone number.
Then reveal that you had GUESSED the number in any one of a number of ways. For instance pull a christmas cracker and inside have a paper with the number on it ( having prepared this earlier on)
