I've had a fish tank for years.. First fish not to get is a Angel fish.. They might look pretty.. But they are the meanest fish in the tank.. they kill everything..
You will need a bottom feeder as it is the tanks clean up crew.. They eat almost everything no one else wants to eat.. Including fish poop.. My favorites are mollies, Neon's, Be careful about snails they come with plants you might have to put in the bottom of the tank... Snails will over run the tank if you do get under water plants cause they have their eggs on them and you will never see them till it's too late.. There are fish who eat snails.. I for got who they are..
I had a few eels at one time.. But after a while they get really boring to watch.. If any fish.. Try fish that school.. Now thats fun to watch.. Good luck and don't forget to watch what fish has.. It's called ick little white spots on the gills..

Cichlids are always fun to watch because they like to fight. There would be plenty of room with a 55 gallon tank. I would get a Jack Dempsey you can also put non-aggressive Black Tetras and Silver dollars that school together and have one big fish that you can feed worms, guppies, goldfish, etc. Lots of fun to watch. Also if you want to breed, convicts are a good choice. remember the female has an orange stomach. They are good parents and and a good topic of conversation when someone comes over watching them fight the other fish away from their brood. Just make sure you get some Cory Catfish, Plecostamus or algae eaters and maybe some loaches. You need plenty of bottom feeders to keep your tank clean. Oscars are also fun but they can make a tank cloudy from urinating etc.

for sure you are able to positioned fish that get greater in a 55. Flowerhorns desire a 55 or greater, yet one pair will take over the tank (and enhance till they fill it)). a huge form of enormous cichlids could be saved mutually in a tank this spacious, alongside with Parrots, Viejas, Oscars, Petenias, and Parachromis. in case you like something on the edge of a Piranha, Black Pacus can do properly in a 55. Synodontis catfish and pink Tail catfish additionally get somewhat enormous and are greater exciting than maximum Corydoras types. you are able to continuously get an Arowana, and it will ultimately go away little room for the rest. On a very distinctive approah, you're able to desire to get 15 or so African cichlids like Haplochromisesj, Labeotropheus, and Cynotilapias.

you can get different kinds of fish aggressive, nonaggressive but make sure you don't mix the two. I have had piranha, angel fish, jack Dempsey's, gold fish. But never in the same tank you can get archer fish they eat crickets. which you put on a stick above the tank it will shoot water at the cricket knock it off the stick and eat it with accuracy you wont believe

You could get a dojo loach, a rope fish, or a black ghost knifefish. If you want an aggressive tank, you could do a cichlid tank.
